Minolta X-700 with Minolta MD Rokkor-X 50mm F1.4

First manufactured in 1981, the Minolta X-700 is a single lens reflex camera.
The camera has Manual, Aperture Priority and Programmed automatic exposure modes when used with MD lenses. MC lens can be used in aperture priority and manual modes. An immediate commercial success for Minolta, it was awarded the EISA "Camera of the Year" award in 1981 and was continually produced until 1999, well into the autofocus era. The camera is the last manual-focus camera body Minolta produced.
Features
The Minolta x-700 shoots in full manual, full program, and, unlike other cameras of this generation (ahem, canon AE-1), in aperture priority
As a mid-range consumer-grade camera, it lacks some of the features of Minolta's higher-end models such as the earlier XD-11. For example, the X-700 retained Aperture-priority mode but dropped Shutter-priority mode in favor of more mass-market Program mode. Additional tweaks included removing the selected shutter speed from the viewfinder. Similarly, the body is plastic rather than metal, and the shutter is a horizontally-traveling cloth shutter with flash sync speed of 1/60s.
Despite having these relatively slow shutter figures, the camera does support TTL flash metering as befits a mass-market model. In program mode and using a TTL flash designed for the X series, automatic exposure including the flash and aperture/shutter-speed is possible. Such TTL flash support is not universal in modern DSLR cameras.
Further compensating for its humble internal feature set, the X-700 was the center of a "system" of external accessories. Auto-winders, external grips, a set of flashes, extensions tubes and bellows for macro work, an IR remote-control, and two multi-function backs were made.
SPECIFICATIONS
It has program and aperture-preferred automation modes.

Manual mode only indicates the suggested shutter speed in the finder; you have to take your eye away from the finder to see what you've actually set.

He X-700 has a stainless steel lens mount.

"MPS" on the front stands for "Minolta Program System," which was hot stuff when Program automation cameras were novel in 1985. Today it just means it has program mode.

The camera has a cloth horizontal focal plane shutter. It runs on two S76 button cells.

This is Minolta's best mass market manual focus camera, ever. If you already own Minolta MD and MC lenses this is the best camera you can buy for these lenses.
The Minolta X-700 is one of the best designed cameras of the 80's. It is a true classic. It was Minolta's flagship camera that capped an end of an era of manually focused cameras. In 1985 Minolta introduced their first autofocus camera, the Maxxum 7000, yet the X-700 stayed in production for about 20 years since its inception in 1981.

If you are looking for a "modern" manual focus camera, the Minolta X-700 is the way go to.
An X-700 allows newcomers to put the camera and lens in "P" mode and let the camera do everything else. This extends to compatible flash systems as well. In short, this camera allows you to automate everything but the focus and the film advance.

The controls are all very much self-evident with this camera, as well. There's no menu system on an LCD and no tricky button combinations. It's all manual and all laid out very well—very much the opposite of today's DSLR's (which typically have a user interface more reminiscent of a photocopier).

The viewfinder is a big bright one with a lot of information laid out in a logical fashion. This camera spoils the user.

The lens feels fantastic, focus is buttery smooth. Optical qualities wide open and the effective focal length of 76 mm on APS-C cameras make the MC Rokkor-PG an excellent portrait lens. It got the typical optical performance of a spherical Gauss-derived fast 50mm lens.
It's ergonomics are excellent, with very grippy and smooth-turning aperture and focus rings.
Personally, I never seen bad fifty from Minolta and this MDI 50/1.4 isn’t exclusion. It has enough resolution for portraits even wide opened, becomes great on F2.0, ready for landscapes from F4 and absolutely sharp over the whole frame on F5.6. It provides creamy bokeh and light bubbles with contrast borders, this bokeh can be described as ‘classic’ – beauty and predictable without any pronounced features

The Camera also comes with an Original Minolta Auto 128 Flash
